**JOURNAL NOTICE** [Jan. 1st, 2011|02:03 am]
I'm not at all a private person by any means. Although I like to have my personal space, I don't really hold any secrets, and I believe that this is indicative of all around trustworthiness on my part. That being said, due to recent events beyond my control, I'm in a situation where I have to make most of my entires friends only. A shame, but it's going to have to be this way for quite awhile at least.

I like sudden encounters, meeting new people, and generally being open with others, but if anyone wants to get to know me, read my bio, check out the interests, and ask for a friends request afterwards. That's the only way that you're going to get to read my more personal entries.

This entry is postdated so that it remains at the top of my journal to let everybody know about the changes taking place. Thanks for understanding.

In real life, you play to stay, not pay to play [Jun. 1st, 2008|03:53 am]
A friend recently told me about how in World of Warcraft, you can exploit a loophole of sorts that allows your player corpse to remain in place despite logging out of the game. When you die in the game, you leave a corpse, and that corpse stays until you either return to life by finding an afterlife sanctuary or for as long as you stay logged on. Well, he told me a few humorous and ridiculous stories that involve this exploit, such as one about how a black player character named "Martinlk" was left dead on the highest balcony of this foreboding castle for three months straight of game time, and how several other characters have left their corpses in various locations as a form of graffiti with names that just said something silly, fun or bizarre.

When he enlightened me, I shared an anecdote about how during my time playing the game on a particular server, there was this dwarf that was left in front of the bank at Ironforge, which is the most important, popular, and crowded area of the game (for the Alliance side, anyways). The dwarf was stripped naked, given a name similar to "likkildjil", and was just laying dead next to the entrance for as long as I was actively playing WoW. Although this innocent but odd feature might have been overlooked by the vast majority of players, it always caused me a great deal of melancholic perplexity.

Daily Musings [May. 16th, 2008|06:47 am]
Yeah, it's lonely up here. I sometimes think about moving back to Louisiana. I used to think that this city is a better environment for enjoying the kind of life that I want, but it seems as though I really had everything I wanted all along; it was the people that I needed.

I think that if I returned to Louisiana, I could just as well meet people that share the same personality and beliefs that I do and at the same time enjoy the people whom I already know. But then again, what could I say for myself? I'd be a lost soul. I don't know what I'd do about accommodations and the like. Where would I go with my life? I'd like to think that I should just move forward with the decisions I've made and build from there, but I also want the simple things that make me happy that I've given up in order to reach this point in my life.

I don't think it really matters where I am, however. I just want the friends that I've missed, and I want to make more. I already have my tools and my skill, I have the means necessary to go crazy with my ambitions. In that regards, living here hasn't changed a thing. Now, I'm faced with having to make new friends and everything. We'll see how it goes.

DVNO [Apr. 29th, 2008|02:17 pm]
[mood |HEARTBURN :(]

This music video is absolutely great. It's a series of graphics packages, production logos, commercial bumpers, and other video clips directly inspired by, if not copying, those highly stylized and iconic examples from the late 20th century (most notably the 80's), blended to flow seamlessly. The music is a bit cacophonous and the lyrics are literally incomprehensible, but it's all worth listening to simply because of how much raw awesome is packed into this

THE SEVENTH SEAL [Apr. 15th, 2008|06:50 am]
After putting it off for months, I finally got around to watching the THE SEVENTH SEAL today, much to the relief of Harlock, and now I have some thoughts on the movie and films in general.

But first, a warning:

**SPOILERS ABOUND. I MEAN EVERYWHERE.**

If you haven't watched The Seventh Seal and plan on doing so (and if you don't, you should), then I recommend not reading this at all. But really, you can read this anyways, since I doubt even telling you a second-by-second rundown of the movie could spoil its severe artistic sanctity, but it can reduce the shock of it. Carrying on...

I shall carry this memory carefully in my hands as if it were a bowl brimful of fresh milk. It will be a sign to me, and a great sufficiency. )

It's like I have these little pieces of paper that I can turn into consumption. If I wanted to, I could hire 10,000 people to do nothing but paint my picture every day for the rest of my life. And the GNP would go up. But the utility of the product would be zilch, and I would be keeping those 10,000 people from doing AIDS research, or teaching, or nursing. I don't do that though. I don't use very many of those claim checks. There's nothing material I want very much. And I'm going to give virtually all of those claim checks to charity when my wife and I die. (Lowe 1997:165–166)"

kagerioshu, 9:00:02 AM:
I get the feeling that this is basically what happens most of the time

kagerioshu, 9:00:20 AM:
when I hear about those ultra-expensive deals and projects

kagerioshu, 9:00:31 AM:
just a few people with the ability to make a bunch of other people do something

for the same purpose of defying the absurdity of existence

kagerioshu, 9:01:32 AM:
by throwing more absurdity back at it

carefully concieved, skillfully constructed absurdity

kagerioshu, 9:03:20 AM:

BIOSUCK -- A SORT OF REVIEW BUT MOSTLY A RANT [Jan. 14th, 2008|04:11 am]
I've been playing Bioshock recently and I'm having mixed feelings about it, mostly for the worst. Most people I know will identify the game as being the spiritual successor of the System Shock series, as having strong influences from Objectivism, or both. Speaking for myself however, I fall into the latter category and with that said I have problems with both aspects of its design.

From the beginning of the game and onwards, the impression given is that of a dark, foreboding and absurd place, which is fine as a matter of evoking dismal suspense and even horror for the purposes of a theme (much like the attempt found in System Shock 2), but it looks to do this through the use of an aesthetic inspired by and even borrowing directly from Ayn Rand and her literature, which, combined with other questionable aspects of the game, leads me to wonder what the theme of the game is exactly and what it wants to accomplish by involving the philosopher and her artwork in relation to it. I haven't beaten the game yet so I can't say anything for certain, but from the looks of things the incorporation of Ayn Rand and her philosophy is pretty idiotic and it seems like a misconceived effort to criticize her, her philosophy and world-view by association with the flaws of the characters in the game and their depraved world.

LJ Cut because I'm a rambling asshole even though I already made the simple point above )

A good birthday and Christmas and mild angst or WHATEVER [Dec. 28th, 2007|03:16 am]
[Current Location |TAMAGOTCHI KEEPS POOING GOD DAMN IT -- GO TO SLEEP]
[mood | curious]
[music |CRRRANK DHUT ROAHBOWKOP]

I was originally planning on covering the following conversation's central idea as a well-composed, perfectly-integrated essay-type entry but I decided to go ahead and leave it exactly as how it ended up being expressed to Harlock, both because it seems more efficient that way and because I don't believe I'm capable of writing on a subject well enough when it is at least as large and broad as this issue. Actually, I don't believe I can really write at all, but oh well. It's probably a matter of some personal flaw concerning my inability or weakness in dealing with tangible abstractions, but I plan on correcting that flaw by writing articles that cover more concrete subjects so as to focus my mind on existing entities and not SPECTRAL APPARITIONS. Anyways, the effort put forth satisfies me well enough, so if it's even possible, enjoy the following what with all its semi-stream of conscious style, lack of clarity, bad grammar and typos that it may possess...

Anyways, I'll lead that subject into a NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION that'll cover the essentials of my problem and address them with a fix that'll hopefully yield good results for myself as a person. I have a lot of things I want to do to improve myself, my circumstances, and my relationship with others, and I plan on doing them as soon as possible (i.e right now), but I'll save the effort of writing about them until New Year's Eve for the sake of dramatic fashion.

As for my birthday and HUMAN DAY/MERRY CHRISTMAS, both were good; I received just about all the cooking and food preparations essentials I own from my mother, all of which are astoundingly great; for instance, she bought Nicole and I this tremendous stainless steel microwave that holds somewhere around 1.2 cubic feet of space, the kind that has a large metal handle protruding from it to give it an air that suggests "PROFESSIONAL USE", complete with brushed metal that just shines with quality overall. Other items came from Nicole's friends, like a pot drainer that is like a plastic dam with small holes and a handle that extends from it, shaped like a crescent axe, that you fit into the curve of a pot to drain the liquid contents without disturbing the peace of the other products inside (like noodles, for instance). It all but completely omits the use of a traditional draining bowl. Very innovative and neat! Nicole herself received a fantastic set of silverware and spiraled jade glasses to go with it, all of which sparkle with majesty. It should be noted that this stuff comes from different sources given to either Nicole or me, but the result is that with everything we received, we received as a couple, for both of us to enjoy and use, so it is worth recounting these things here as a personal boon.

From Nicole, greatness and SURPRISE! She giveth unto me a high-quality humidifier and spare accessories to go with it (for the nosebleeds and dry skin I suffer during this time of year, poor me ;_;), sets of Monopoly and Clue!, copies of Contact and Cooking Mama for the Nintendo DS, and, completely out of nowhere, a copy of THE DANGEROUS BOOK FOR BOYS with its red hardbound cover and 50s-esque interior style and non-waxy pages, a book which is absurdly awesome and very much needed this day and age me thinks (but I don't play with young boys at my age or observe them,, so I wouldn't know how they interact outside of school in person these days -- if at all). Regardless, it is an outstanding book with a sense of adventure fit for anyone; man, woman, or child (although I've seen the Daring Book for Girls, I haven't really looked into it much to comment on the quality of it).

And, finally, for Nicole I got her a classic-looking, five-level bookshelf in that wonderful cherry wood color, a new v4.5 Tamagotchi with a few of the trinkets and neat little articles that can come with one, like a neckband with a little Tamagotchi charm and a small plushie that's a smiling strawberry Tama itself with a backpack that holds the Tamagotchi unit (OMG SOOOO CUTE ^.^), and a compact optical mouse for her laptop that she can use so that she can take some stress off herself and her touch pad (I can't see how people can get used to those things, they seem like temporary fixes to me or last resorts, but anywaysss...) I'm not done buying her stuff yet, so we'll have to wait and see what else she'll be getting. Wait and see, wait and see, yes... YES.

Oih yeah, and also, from Providence: GALLSTONES. I was given them by surprise earlier yesterday morning when I was shopping for food and, likewise, responded to the sudden gift with a severe dimpling of my cheeks, a flash of teeth, and an explosion of tears gushing from my eyes, because oh, he just shouldn't have. Just got out of the hospital like four hours ago, and was in there along with my sweet Nicole for over 9 hours. Love her!

That's it and that's all, and it's been good! Btw: Happy Belated Birthday to ME, I'm 24 now, turned that age on Christmas Eve, and likewise will finally enjoy CAKE today, courtesy of a Russian Deli across the street from my house (of course I gotta pay for the cake, hawwwwwnk. ;Oo)

I PROMISE TO PAY YOU BACK LATER BRO, I REALLY MEAN IT THIS TIME [Nov. 17th, 2007|12:19 pm]
[mood | irate]
[music |ANGER TECHNO]

Deceit is like taking a loan out on your soul with the funds being honesty. Taking it out gets you a short-term reward with a long-term outcome of severe debt to yourself since having this outstanding debt incurs heavy interest that consumes your every action and thought and eventually destroys you. It claims your reason, your emotions, your logic, your sense of life, and the personal happiness that goes along with all of that. Paying it back won't get you anything, but at least it sets you straight and clears your psychological credit. After all, it's your spiritual clarity held as collateral, i.e a claim on your ability to successfully interact with reality in accordance with all your thoughts and actions. And with everything you put at stake here, you can never grow spiritually wealthy for as long as you have this debt; just like math, you have to add something to a negative sum before you can reach the point that you actually have anything. And that something is honesty.

So, with that said, when you follow the logical progression of this vicious deficit of the soul known as deceit, you'll realize that there is no reason to take the loan out in the first place, especially when it puts you in debt to yourself. Honesty, people. Comon!

[music |OH SAY CAN YOU SEEEEE]

I wrote the following as a message for my girlfriend, scarleast, to distribute to help make people aware of Ron Paul and to possibly convince them of a few reasons why they should support the man for presidency. It started off as something personal for her to send to a guy she met online who just learned of the Doctor's existence, so it is by no means meant to be the definitive argument, but it should serve its purpose as an introduction and quick rundown of Dr. Paul for those people who are yet still unaware of who he is and why they should care about him. Feel free to distribute it in any format, anywhere, and even edit it to your liking.

For instance, you could start by adding information about how Ron Paul has delivered over a thousand babies, but I felt that that sort of thing wasn't political enough to concern the issues of his candidacy, but, then again, that sort of thing represents the quality of his character and is the kind of positive propaganda that is probably necessary to convince people through an association of emotions, like the idea of the weeping indian who mourns over an empty can of soda dropped on the ground in the park or Chuck Norris doing a jump kick across a background of the American flag or whatever. Anyways, enjoy!

kagerioshu: 8:42:22 AM: that's what the stock market is for too, though
kagerioshu: 8:42:49 AM: but it comes with a gamble (almost; the best investors would laught at that term, calling it a trademark of the foolish)
fantastic2xs: 8:43:51 AM: gambling is fun though
fantastic2xs: 8:44:06 AM: until you realize the house always wins

(I am kagerioshu on AIM, for those ((far too few ;_;)) of you who didn't know)

I prefer to write my entires naturally since I desire to improve my writing skills, but this is good enough to get the point across; there is virtue in brevity, after all. More to come tonight!

DIS SONG, YEAH... UH, THIS SONG, IT BE TIGHT, YO [Oct. 14th, 2007|05:08 pm]
[mood | hungry]
[music |Pregnant Prostitute -- The Dirtbag Bitch Hitters]

I work overnight at a retail store and, because of the solitude, it's a pretty common practice for the management to allow the workers to play music on the store radios. The majority vote wins on which music gets to play, though, so it's a hip-hop/pop station that's being played 99% of the time. Because of this, I tell you that I have to listen to the same ridiculous "songs" for over 8 hours almost EVERY NIGHT. The station selected basically represents the the most popular music out there, and listening got me thinking about the music itself and how fraudulent the song material really is.

The most popular songs aren't even legitimately poetic or artistic at all, but rather are something like a forced measure of the status quo; the songwriters make an evaluation of their target audience and produce work based specifically on that evaluation rather than represent any personal interests in themselves, i.e a singer can sing about how she suffered heartbreak from a recent destructive relationship that ended, then the very same singer can move on immediately to a song about her promiscuity and superficial sex drive. There's also songs about how a singer is poor but he's the right one for his girl despite his poverty, then the same singer will be the lead in a song bragging about how rich he is and how nobody can top him in life, the number of cars and boats he owns, blah blah etc.

There's a couple of facts at work here, which are interesting to note: The majority of popular music is produced and written by a small handful of people, and these creators are almost completely hidden from media exposure. Also, the material for the most popular songs usually has no lasting value, limited in scope of ideas and culture to the month it occurs in.

If any sense can be made at all from these things, then it probably can be said that these songs are developed specifically to keep the status quo in mind for the listener, to reinforce stereotypical cultural behavior, and to make him both identify and be envious of the certain standards and ideology presented in the music itself. This, combined with a strategic switch of subjects and the opinions of these subjects as expressed by the singers, gives you an ephemeral product meant to see the largest number of people through their daily mundane lives.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting any conspiracies here, but it's just that if there is some sort of strong formula at work, one to make these songs appeal to the largest number of people and force their acceptance by compulsion from the media, you'd think the creators would have the concept behind it all grasped well. It's most likely not a coincidence that these things combine to make seemingly random pseudo-musical nonsense on the surface hum along like a tightly wound machine from the inside.

In any case, I find it all completely intolerable now, so I'm either going to start bringing my own mp3 player to work or at least wear ear plugs. If management has something to say to me, then I simply will reply that I don't subscribe to my fellow worker's choice of ideological input. BEAT THAT

Freedom or death? Freedom AND life! [Oct. 4th, 2007|05:54 pm]
[mood | busy]

I just wrote a reply to Charbile's comment on my last entry concerning Ron Paul, but, as it turned out, the reply is lengthy and good enough on its own terms to constitute a journal entry, provided I supply the original comment from Charbile. So, without further ado ~~

FROM CHARBILE:
I haven't looked into him yet, but the support he's been receiving has me leery because I never see the why besides the usual, though noble, reasons like pro-freedom, don't like 'the state', etc.

The system is geared for gradual change, and those who think one president can 'take away' any single bad element are living in fantasy. One can add all they want, but in US politics, things are so entrenched that it'll take decades of tiny steps to do away with them.

AND MY REPLY:
As far as presidental canidates go, Ron Paul is basically the only representative of essential American values, upholding the constitution with relentless consistency which, in my understanding, makes him the only legitimate canidate for presidency considering the position's alleged purpose to the country. Every other aspiring president-wannabe is a charlatan who just plays puppet to one aspect or another of the "political system" you speak of (with the slight exception of Mike Gravel, perhaps, but he's not that great). You can look him up on wikipedia for a quick summary that is as good as any research into understanding the man and his support.

As far as what you say about the political system, I don't think anyone believes that everything will change with Ron Paul; a lot of the supporters most likely want to make it known that the foolishness of politics is intolerable, and supporting Ron Paul will make a statement against its slave morality practices and force big media to pay attention to real human issues or, if that fails, expose popular culture for being its fraudulent product. I'm speaking abstractly here, of course, since a lot of them express these feelings as desires to cut taxes, bring our soldiers home from the oil war, etc... I can't say that for certain, however, but the idea is a sentiment I share nonetheless.

Speaking for myself, I don't care for the political system -- or any politics whatsoever! The entire concept of rulers -- especially those over ethics -- is invalid to me and I would sooner deny anyone the right to control my life. I don't enjoy the thought of giving someone the priviledge to decide things for me because he or she wears a two-piece suit or a fancy hat. Because of this and other personal convictions, I don't find voting a legitimate practice for true freedom.

However, just because I don't believe in the validity of presidents, comrades, dictators, kings, priests, etc. doesn't make their existence any less of a concern of mine -- or yours -- since we're living in a country with rulers who, by power of the many and their mindless duty of carrying out orders given to them because "it's my job." or whatever, force us to live with their influence.

That said, my support of Ron Paul means that I'd prefer to at least exercise my citizen-based rights to the extent that I possess them in this country, which includes voting for a presidental canidate, to make certain that no more of my rights and freedoms are taken away. If Ron Paul can't give me liberty, then he at least act as a stubborn stick caught in the cogs of a government that confuses itself with being my moral watchdog and my big brother, doing the "Good Lord's Deeds :')" while knocking down my home and giving the ruined property to Wal-mart so they can pave over it to erect another shrine to mediocrity at poverty-level prices for people like me to shop at since we've all been stripped of our wealth and property... or whatever. If even that effort fails, then at least I have shown what I believed in while doing what I can as a "citizen" of this freedom-forsaken country. The resort is to just continue to use my voice, my pen, and my ideas (speaking somewhat rhetorically here) to express my beliefs in noble virtues (such as individual freedom and the righteousness of mastery) up until the point wherein I'm forced to go into exile, like Bei Dao. Hopefully, with all our earnest efforts, it will never come to that!

Anyways, I would think that politics, govt, etc. are only as terrible as the people that are involved. The only reason bad can be added easily and good takes forever to incorporate is that there are simply more people that are bad than there are those who are like Ron Paul (or even better than him, if any exist). Also, the fact that it takes a lot of effort to get anything done is exactly why the government has managed to avoid degrading into facism for so long -- utilizing bipartisan practices as well as having several branches making checks and balances on each other basically puts rulers at war with each other without the actual "war", creating a system without any real ruling over the citizens involved. The result, of course, is a bloated waste of time that drains the efficiency of an economy and progress of those masters who would continue to raise the standards of living for everyone who would rise to the challenge of becoming masters themselves with "Hard Work and Guts!!", as Harlock would put it.

Rinku and I (mostly me), on the subject of Ron Paul: [Sep. 30th, 2007|12:16 pm]
kagerioshu: oh
kagerioshu: I didn't go to patterson because I ended up donating to the ronpaul drive towards a million
kagerioshu: I'm also ordering some of his "slimjim" flyers and passing them out/dropping them around locally
kagerioshu: I'll visit sometime, but I figure that if I'm visiting on terms of supporting ron paul firstly
rinkuhero: boo
kagerioshu: then the money is better spent just going towards his campaign directly
rinkuhero: but okay
rinkuhero: i'm not sure it's better
rinkuhero: since the work of putting up posters
rinkuhero: would require him to pay like 100s of dollars
kagerioshu: true
rinkuhero: whereas if we do it voluntarily it'd cost less
kagerioshu: but that's why I'm buying the slimjims
rinkuhero: those are a good idea
kagerioshu: I wanted to see him make a million, too
rinkuhero: you could put them on random cars
rinkuhero: in a parking lot
kagerioshu: that in itself is great publicity
kagerioshu: yeah
rinkuhero: like under the windshield wiper
kagerioshu: (you already know probably, but he has surpassed his new goal admirably, and the deadline hasn't even been reached yet)
kagerioshu: we're living in hopeful times, some people believe things are worse, that evils are everywhere and are getting more powerful; some are delusional about the current quality of life, thinking everything is fine
kagerioshu: but I think that regardless, we have superior means of fighting whatever may happen
kagerioshu: a lot of the worst potential evils known in the past have been thwarted by individuals in the right place at the right time
kagerioshu: among those are the overthrow of the american government, the election of the "king fish", nuclear fallout, etc.
kagerioshu: also, all the problems today were just as prevalent back then, but as there may be more means of carrying out evil now, the same means can be used for carrying out good i.e internet, miniature cameras, mobile phones, etc.
kagerioshu: basically, what I'm saying is that I'm pretty glad I can support someone like ron paul just by turning on a computer and using it wisely

I should really update my biography, my uh, myspace profile, and get my website back up [Sep. 7th, 2007|09:13 am]
[mood | optimistic]

Because of the upcoming Christmas crunch, everyone at work got a dollar raise, so now I'm earning 10.25 an hour. I plan on keeping the job until at least the end of December, and at that time I'm going to consider putting in a two-week notice and return to the job later, probably around February or March perhaps, so that I can spend the time off pursuing personal ambitions. But, for now, I'm doing pretty well financially, which is great considering that all my other circumstances just continue to improve.

There's the fact that I'm living in extremely close proximity to a small supermarket, a post office, and several other useful businesses, one of them being a privately owned bank (they're all basically just right around the corner). I got an account at this bank, which also approved a debit card in my name (finally!), now I'm just waiting on that item to come in the mail to empower me and render myself capable of making purchases at any number of online retailers.

I have a better diet because of a greater access to quality food at cheaper prices, I can just walk to the grocery and pick up anything I like without having to travel several miles on foot and risk the savagery of where I used to live. If I need to go anywhere farther, there is public transportation. I can get away without owning a vehicle and go anywhere I want in the city within minutes, and all it cost me is 30 dollars for a monthly pass (!!). Compare that to the price of gas for owning a vehicle (in my case, a 91' 5.0 liter v8 Ford F150 -- automatic, no less((it got like, what was it Nicole? Eight miles to the gallon on average?)), a requirement when living in the south since you need to travel MILES AND MILES just to get to the nearest store or any place worth visiting. Also, if I really need to haul something, I can just rent a truck for the day or perhaps less since I possess a New York drivers license, a social equipment I procured with minimal hassle and wait.

Rent is cheap, and my apartment is well above and beyond the quality of my cousin's house in Slidell. I really appreciate the fact that I got to live there mostly for free, especially since Hurricane Katrina completely ruined the already terrible economy, but his home was a house trashed by former renters, and even after cleaning it extensively I had to deal with the seeped-in mildew in certain areas, grimy floors and corridors of the first floor (my personal one-room second floor was actually rather nice, but still somewhat bad in this sense of having a moderately fouled carpet that was impossible to clean completely -- I can share pictures of the before-and-after restoration if anyone is interested), the occasional mice infestation, and the non-optimal health I suffered from such things; I'm happy to say that I'm doing much better now in regards to these things, thanks.

Basically, when stepping back and looking at my life as a whole, everything is coming together for me in a splendid way -- the ropes of my life are tightening and just suddenly it's all like an efficient, well-oiled machine, humming to a graceful beat of vigorous pistons bound by reason. Now, it's just up to me to make this machine do something grand.
